Money, Money Money.. Are you about Money or Passion?
Ladybug Piggy Bank
I’m sure everyone at the moment is talking about money and asking their relationship to money. I was also forced to think of my personal relationship to money and how it impacts my life right now.
I was just asked to be part of Walmart’s Eleven Moms / Money Saving Moms campaign, and then at the same time another company suggested me being part of their “Money Making Mom” campaign, and I have been trying to ask myself who am I, am I a money saving mom or a money making mom, and can/can’t I be both?
As a mompreneur, business owner and someone who wants to succeed in my career, I guess the “Money Making Mom” would describe me better. I want to be seen as a successful business woman, and seems like the “Money Making Mom” would fit that bill.
But as a mother of three, I also am a money saving mom, who wants to find the best deals - I mean, I’m like the queen of the sales racks, if that isn’t being a money saving mom, I don’t know what is. I hate wasting - whether it’s wasting your resources, time - or money, and this is why I am comfortable being called a Money Saving Mom.
But money isn’t really the reason I work. I work because I’m passionate about it - that’s why I have been giving so many women free business consulting, even if has just been an hour or two on phone. Money is the cherry in the top - and I don’t get the ice cream for the cherry. Jessica Smith calls it the icing on the cake.
One of my business idols, Gary Vaynerchuk says in one of his inspirational videos
“Legacy is greater than currency and your social equity is more important than your financial equity… I’d much rather have now million friends than million dollars” and I agree.
I am about passion, not about money.
PS. If you are passionate about money, I think I might know a perfect work opportunity for you. Contact me and I will get you together with a company offering an amazing opportunity for a “Money Making Mom” who is interested in writing, editing and networking.
